Butter Me Up
Southern Pressed Juicery
2 W Washington St, Greenville, SC
Greenville, South Carolina – located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Named #35 on U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Places to Live” – is a foodie’s hidden gem. Take a stroll down Main Street and you will find upwards of 100 restaurants. Amongst the good ole Southern traditional “meat ‘n three” and diverse high-cal collections of dining options, there is the guilt free “Southern Pressed Juicery."
I actually feel lighter and cleaner as I float in the front entrance and flow through the yogis, runners, and bicyclists to the counter. No joke! There’s a special vibe in the place. For those watching their waist lines, ordering is simple because everything is guilt-free good. There are grab and go cold pressed juices, super food smoothies, salads and healthy wraps and meals. However, the purpose of my visit is always for an Energy Bowl, also known as an Acai bowl, pronounced “ah-sah-ee”. Acai is a delicious superfood from Brazil. There are four offerings in this form on the menu. Each is made with a foundation of “ah-sah-ee” which is basically a thick fruit smoothie. This sweet treat can be topped with a variety of squeaky clean foods like bananas, coconut, raw honey, kale, and spirulina. And if you want it dirty like your martini, you can add a scoop of almond butter, cacao nibs and goji berries!
There are four bowls to choose from including Bee’s Knees, The Green Monstah, and Dragons Blood Bowl, but I highly recommend the “Butter Me Up” with a scoop of almond butter and some goji berries. Don’t let the name fool you. It’s just shy of 400 calories which makes this New Yorker super clean and super happy. Hope to “A-sah-ee” you at The Southern Pressed Juicery soon!
