First of all the rye bread is double-toasted and crunchy. The meat is thick, juicy and savory. The cole slaw is a really good counterpoint, sweet and crisp cabbage and carrots, as simple as that, though I like to add a little pepper. The platter is accompanied by a dill pickle and crinkle-cut fries. Add a classic Brooklyn egg cream, seltzer and chocolate syrup, and you have the perfect L.A. deli lunch. You might see someone famous at this MacArthur Park venue, but truly, the pastrami is the star of the show.
