The location is not what you expect, the third floor of an office building with views of the Hawaiian mountain range, not the Pacific Ocean. But this all seems to work perfectly as Alan Wong's elegantly appointed restaurant is all about one thing - sensational food! Every time I arrive I am filled with the anticipation of trying something new. But as I settle into my seat, smell the incredible and now familiar aromas, and just take in the satisfaction of being in this restaurant I can not resist once again ordering their signature dish, the Ginger-Crusted Onaga. Onaga is a Long-Tail Red Snapper and in the hands of Alan Wong's skillful kitchen it is transformed into a flaky masterpiece with a delicate crust infused with just the right amount of ginger. The fish is placed over perfectly cooked sweet corn, mushrooms, and the entire dish rests on a creamy Miso Sesame Vinaigrette drizzled with Basil Oil - visually stunning. This combination of textures and flavors go well beyond working well together; they take this entree to a new culinary level. Alan Wong's Ginger-Crusted Onaga embodies what a Signature Dish truly should be. Maybe next time I will try something new. But I doubt it!
